Journey to Education and Employment

At a recent Youth Advisory Group (YAG) discussion, participants shared their ideas for helping newcomer youth find their place in the Canadian workplace.

Some noted the importance of bringing new and creative ideas, especially in small businesses where these qualities are valued. Others pointed out that flexibility at work is more common in Canada than in other countries, which is an advantage.

One participant mentioned that learning by making mistakes is normal and can even be a better way of learning. All participants agreed that communication and teamwork are essential.

Networking was mentioned as an important way to progress in one's career. Meeting people and making contacts can open unexpected doors.
